World Cosplay Summit Malaysia has been an exclusive and premier event for the local Malaysian cosplay and sub-culture scene.

The “World Cosplay Summit (WCS)” was created to promote international exchange through the Japanese youth culture of manga and anime. The free and dynamic nature of manga was instrumental in the birth of cosplay. Nowadays youth from around the world find this as a common language and a dynamic new form of global interaction.

The World Cosplay Summit began in Osu, Nagoya and has grown to include more than 36 countries from around the world. If you count audience and participants at each preliminary event, the number of people involved is now in the 200s of thousands.

World Cosplay Summit Malaysian Representatives 2018

Comprising the beautiful duo, Dovah and Shinku, Team Valkyrie are no strangers to representing Malaysia on global stages, having represented the country in Clara Cow Cosplay Cup 2017 in the Netherlands and World Cosplay Summit 2018 in Japan. The duo have also been guest judges for World Cosplay Summit Indonesian Qualifiers in Malang and Medan and AnimeS Expo Bulgaria.

The ladies were recently in Hong Kong where they provided a marvelous showcase on stage at HKACG, one of the largest ACG events in the City.

Both Dovah and Shinku are avid gamers as well, with Dovah being a fan of League of Legends, God of War and Onmyoji while Shinku enjoys playing Valkyrie Profile 2, Final Fantasy VII, Crash Bandicoot and Harvest Moon among many others. The duo will be presenting an enchanting performance based on the hit RPG, Onmyoji.

About Team Manboobs

World Cosplay Summit Malaysian Representatives 2011 and 2017

Longtime veterans of the local cosplay scene, Sky and Yuan, known collectively as Team Manboobs, are two-time representatives of Malaysia in the World Cosplay Summit. In addition, the duo were also winners of the AniManGaki 2018 cosplay competition, the Anime Festival Asia 2015 cosplay competition and were Malaysian representatives at Tokyo Game Show 2013. They have also been judges before for last year’s World Cosplay Summit Indonesian Qualifiers and Yuan herself once judged the Umigomi: Project Zero Guest cosplay competition in Japan.

The duo also enjoy gaming during their downtime, favoring RPGs and Metroidvania games, such as Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy VII, .hack G.U., Castlevania and Hollow Knight. They will be presenting an educational panel on preparing for World Cosplay Summit for cosplayers looking to prepare themselves for a chance to represent the country on a global stage.

About Team Kuramaker Tokusatsu

World Cosplay Summit Malaysian Representatives 2019

This young, zany and energetic duo made up of King and Nash are fresh from their stint in Japan where they represented Malaysia in World Cosplay Summit 2019. Team Kuramaker Tokusatsu are avid competitors in the local cosplay scene and almost always make it to the top three in every competition they compete in, such as Comic Fiesta Mini, Anime Saiko, Games & Anime Expo and the prestigious Cosplay Invitational hosted by Comic Fiesta.

Both gentlemen are also avid gamers. They enjoy playing Tekken and Mortal Kombat together while King enjoys games such as Prince of Persia, Overwatch and Call of Duty and Nash enjoys the Resident Evil and Devil May Cry series. The duo will be pulling double duty, conducting a panel about preparing for a competition and staying motivated and also putting on a performance based on Tekken.
